Eighteenth & Twenty-first Amendments

The eighteenth amendment was the prohibition of alcohol. This was drafted by Wayne Wheeler. After it was ratified by states, it was passed in 1919, by Congress. The amendment was put into act in 1920. This amendment said that the production, transport, and sale of alcoholic beverages was prohibited.

The twenty-first amendment was the repeal of the eighteenth amendment. It said that the prohibition of alcohol was no longer in effect. Congress passed this in February of 1933. The states also ratified it, and so the amendment went into effect on December fifth 1933. During the thirteen years prohibition was in effect, they called it the "Great Experience".

  2. I agree with these amendments. Even though I am a kid I find that alcohol shouldn't be illegal. No one in my mind can go without drinking.

  3. I agree with both amendments. Alcohol was and still is a problem. Most car accidents happen because of alcohol. Yes you can drink it, but responsibly.

  4. i agree with zarelyn. You must drink it responsibly, and with care, knowing its consequenses. Americans couldn't live without beer, since we were going through the great depression and we need alcohol.

  5. I agree with you jesully and nobody should be drinking yes responsibly but still not at all because no good comes from drinking. Men do the wrong things and so do women due to alcohol.
